CARRABASSETT VALLEY — State land regulators will hold a hearing Wednesday to address TransCanada’s request to add 631 acres on Sisk Mountain in northern Franklin County for a wind power project. The area abuts the company’s Kibby Wind Project in Kibby and Skinner townships.
The hearing will be held at 10 a.m. March 17 at Sugarloaf Inn on the Sugarloaf Access Road in Carrabassett Valley.
TransCanada Maine Wind Development Inc. submitted a petition to the Land Use Regulation Commission on July 1, 2009, to add the 631 acres in Chain of Ponds and Kibby townships to the state’s fast-track wind permitting process.
The company is proposing to install an additional 15 wind turbines on Sisk Mountain, essentially expanding its 44-turbine project Kibby Wind Project on Kibby Range and Kibby Mountain. Half of the latter project’s turbines were installed last year, with the other half to be installed this year.
