“We bowl to have fun,” said Mariette Hebert of Lewiston. “It’s a family,” said Hebert about the friends and extended family that she bowls with every Sunday morning.
Raining or not, a group of family and friends gather at Sparetime Recreation in Lewiston for two hours of bowling every Sunday morning. “We are all family here,” said Mariette Hebert, second from right, of Lewiston. “We bowl in the winter, and golf in the summer,” said Hebert’s brother Dan, third from right. “I’m 80 years old, and this is only the second time I have bowled in my entire life,” said Fern Fournier, left. “I’m getting better though. I used to put two balls in the gutter. Now I only put one,” said Fournier, brother of Mariette Hebert. Lou Fortunato, second from left, of Minot, retired in December and has been bowling ever since. She just bought a new ball and used it for the first time Sunday. Bowling season is about to end for this group. “When golf starts, we stop,” said Dan Hebert of Lewiston. Mariette Hebert’s husband Dick is at far right.
