I am not happy with the health care bill. I wanted a government-run and supported universal health care insurance plan.

My wife’s employer pays $16,000 per year for our family coverage. We pay another $2,500 plus co-pays. I’d gladly pay more taxes for truly universal health care. My wife’s employer could pay her more; we’d pay less and the co-pays would go away. Dental and eye care should be included in universal health care.

Ronald Reagan infamously said, “Government is not the solution. Government is the problem!” He was very wrong. Without Social Security, unemployment insurance, minimum wage and welfare this country would be in really big trouble and the current depression (that really started in 1972) would have destroyed this country.

Government can and does work, despite continuous Republican attempts to destroy any program that helps people.

Republicans are more interested in seeing President Barack Obama fail than they are in helping and serving the people of this country. In contrast, the Democratic minority in 2001 did everything that they could to help President George W. Bush succeed, despite the fact that his programs and wars have had a disastrous effect on this country.

It will be decades before this country recovers from the mismanagement and malfeasance of the Bush presidency.
