PORTLAND — Jackie Gogan of Farmington will be honored at the Maine affiliate of Susan G. Komen For the Cure’s Pink Tie Ball on Saturday, March 20, at the Holiday Inn By the Bay.

The mantra for this year’s ball, “to honor, to celebrate, to cure,” encapsulates the celebratory nature of the evening, as well as the Komen mission of ending breast cancer forever.  

The Pink Tie Ball, an annual event benefitting breast cancer education, screening and treatment in Maine and national research, will be emceed by WCSH-6 and WLBZ-2’s Cindy Williams. The event will features live music by Color Blind as well as both live and silent auction by Keenan Auction Company.

In 2001, Gogan was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 56. She found a lump in her left breast and underwent a mastectomy, followed by chemo and radiation. Concern about a recurrence prompted her to request a mastectomy of the right breast. Unfortunately, the cancer returned, this time to her brain in 2005.   

Gogan has shown amazing courage through her treatment, and that of her twin sons who are also cancer survivors. Her sons, Steve and Stef Keenan, will be the auctioneers at the event. Jackie resides in Farmington with her husband, Jerry Gogan.
