Why waste money building a casino? People are jobless, homeless, on welfare. Veterans are neglected, elderly cannot afford to live in their own homes. People are going bankrupt.
Gamblers often use money that should be used to pay the rent, or food, bills and child support; or things children need and medical bills, etc.
Scratch tickets, Megabucks, Powerball, bingo tickets, etc., are already available. Where has all the money raised by those tickets gone? I do not see much improvement anywhere. People’s lives have not changed. We are not better off than before.
Bangor has a racino. Are we in Maine better off? Who gets the lion’s share of the take? I’d like to know.
