AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A Limington woman whose body was found in a remote region of western Maine a day after her husband reported her missing was the victim of a homicide, the Maine medical examiner’s office said Monday.
Kelly Winslow, 30, died of a gunshot wound to the head, said Brandy Pyska of the medical examiner’s office. Winslow’s body was found Friday on property off Route 26 in the Oxford County town of Upton near the New Hampshire border.
Detectives continued their investigation Monday and no arrests have been made, said Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland.
“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the death, but aren’t releasing any more information today,” he said.
Winslow’s husband reported her missing Thursday night from the home where they lived with their children on Mike’s Way in Limington, police said.
Police searched several locations, including the family’s house, before finding Winslow’s body the next day more than 80 miles away in Upton. McCausland wouldn’t say why investigators were led to that area of Maine.
