LISBON — St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church will offer a free women’s seminar, “The Women at the Foot of the Cross,” led by Allison VanderLinden from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 27.

“The women who stayed with Jesus while he suffered and died on the cross each had a unique faith story,” said VanderLinden. “This spiritual jump start for the upcoming Holy Week will allow any woman to get closer to Jesus.”

VanderLinden, a 1979 graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, was ordained in the Presbyterian Church USA. She has served in seven different churches in Ohio, Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania and Maine.

In 1999, she moved to Maine with her family and served as the interim pastor at the Court Street Baptist Church, Auburn. In 2001, she was called to pastor West Bowdoin Baptist Church where she remained for three years. Today she is teaching a Navigator Bible Study at University of Southern Maine and volunteering at ABBA, a CareNet women’s resource center in Portland.

A free lunch is also included and reservations can be made by contacting the church at 353-8453 or debwagner@gwi.net.

The church is located on the hill off Route 196. For more information, visit www.StMatthewsLisbon.org.
