AUBURN – The L/A Senior Hockey League concluded its winter season Sunday night with championship games.
MetLife Home Loans captured the women’s championship after finishing fifth out of six teams during the regular season. Metlife faced Neokraft Signs, which finished third during the regular season and was making its second title-game appearance.
Neokraft Signs scored first before MetLife answered with the next three goals. Neokraft scored again in the third period, but MetLife hung on for the 3-2 victory.
Randi Dumont, Renee Brezovsky and Erica Stimpson netted MetLife goals. Kerri Duffy and Heidi Gepfert were the scorers for Neokraft.
River Rats/Gritty’s successfully defended its men’s title with an 8-4 victory over Taylor Brook Dental. River Rats/Gritty’s finished third during the season, while Taylor Brook Dental was eighth before both teams caught fire in the playoffs.
Matt Cote netted three goals while Dan Lajoie and Mark Cote scored a pair each for RiverRats/Gritty’s. Bob Glover, John Poulin, Gary Allard and Les Cane scored for Taylor Brook.
