Cecile L. Dutil

1914 – 2010

LEWISTON — Cecile L. Dutil, 96, of 158 Russell St., Lewiston died on Saturday, March 27, at Russell Park Rehabilitation & Living Center after a long illness.

She was born in St. Gedeon, P.Q., Canada, March 7, 1914, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Veilleux) Lambert. She was a naturalized citizen of the USA and came to Maine in 1925. She attended St. Mary’s School in Lewiston and was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. At the age of 15, she started to work at the Androscoggin Mill, then at Continental Mill, Knapp Shoe and also at Payne Incense, retiring at age 62.

She was married to Armand “Flash” Dutil, who died in 1978, and lived most of her life on Maple Street in Lewiston. Later on, she moved to Oak Park Senior Apartments, where she lived for 27 years and was presently living at Russell Park Assistant Living Center.

She has been an active member of the following auxiliary Snowshoe Clubs, Les Hirondelles and Les Dames Passe-Temps. She was presently a life member of Les Indiens Snowshoe Club and the Auxiliary of the Franco American War Veterans Post 31. She was a supporter of the Pine Tree Warriors Drum & Bugle Corps, where she would serve food in the canteen during bingo.

She enjoyed dining out with her sister Jeanne and her son Bert.

She is survived by a son, Bert Dutil of Lewiston; two sisters, Jeanne Labonte of Lewiston and Georgette Fortier of Wells; and many nieces and nephews.
