WILTON — Traffic stops for speeding vehicles netted two charges for drugs and drug paraphernalia over the weekend.

Wilton Office Nicholas Zecher stopped Miles Hutchinson, 18, of Wilton for allegedly speeding on Main Street near the bowling alley at about 3 a.m. Sunday morning. Zecher requested assistance to search the vehicle from Franklin County Deputy David Rackliffe and his police dog, Odin. The dog indicated there was an illegal substance and the search located a usable amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Chief of Police Dennis Brown said.

The driver received a court summons for unlawful possession of the drug and paraphernalia and was released at the scene, he said.

In a similar incident Friday, detective Rick Billian stopped a vehicle on Route 2 for allegedly speeding. A passenger in the car, Scott Kidder, 29, of Wilton, received a summons for unlawful possession of drugs after pills were found, and on a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia, Brown said.

Wilton officers were kept busy responding to 10 criminal incidents and 78 requests for an officer over the three day period, Brown said. They also dealt with several incidents of domestic assault and terrorizing and violations of court orders.
