NORWAY — A Norway couple remains in a Florida hospital — the husband fighting for his life, according to his brother — following a motorcycle crash Saturday in Lehigh Acres, Fla.

Barry and Joan Hill of Delano Drive in Norway were riding their motorcycle in the small community just outside Ft. Myers, Fla., on Saturday morning when they were hit broadside by an SUV, according to Barry Hill’s brother, Dan Hill. The couple were wintering in Florida this year.

Dan Hill said that his brother was in a coma and that his sister-in-law suffered several broken bones as a result of the crash. Hill said his brother was not wearing a helmet and sustained head injuries.

Few details were available about the crash as of late Sunday. A dispatcher with the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the Hills were involved in the three-vehicle 11:14 a.m. crash at the intersection of 14th Street and Joel Boulevard. The Ft. Myers News-Press reported on its Web site early Saturday afternoon that two trauma patients were transported from the scene and that the area was closed to traffic.

No other details were available about the crash as of Sunday night.
