PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — During his recent visit to Portland, President Barack Obama made reference to a small business owner who distributes beer. He jokingly said he hoped his plug for the business would yield some free samples.

Obama may get more than he bargained for.

Business owner Bill Milliken — now known as “Bill the Beer Guy” — is putting together a care package for Obama that includes a sampling of some of Maine’s ales, lagers and Belgian-style brews.

The Maine Brewers Guild expects all of its 17 members to provide samples for the basket and they’re hoping to make the best of the opportunity. The Portland Press Herald says the beer committee is planning a media event for the gift basket’s send-off on April 19.
