The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA will offer a “Couch to 5k” session beginning Monday, April 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. The program is an introduction to getting the body moving, starting off alternating between walking and running short distances, and slowly building up to running/walking a 5k (3.1 miles). Individuals will receive a training plan and log. Participants will be coached on proper warm-up, cool down and basic nutrition. Each class will consist of 20 to 30 minutes of instruction and 30 to 40 minutes of exercise. The program will culminate with the opportunity for group members to participate in the first 5k of the Greater LA Triple Crown, the Y Fit Fest, on Saturday, June 12. The cost is $25, plus a YMCA membership. Class size is limited. For more information, call 795-4095 or e-mail Tish Caldwell at [email protected].
