PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — President Barack Obama’s lighthearted request for free samples of beer in exchange for a shout out to a small business owner in Maine’s largest city is yielding suds for the White House refrigerator.
Bill Milliken — now known as “Bill the Beer Guy” — arranged for a basket of brews from 10 different brewers. Gov. John Baldacci is joining him for Monday’s official send-off.
Obama singled out Milliken as a small business owner who’d benefit from the health care reform.
Milliken owns Market House Coffee and Maine Beer and Beverage Co. Obama said the health care reform will provide a tax credit for up to 35 percent of what’s paid for health insurance for workers.
