RUMFORD — Pearl A. Whitman, 90, formerly of Dixfield, died Sunday, April 18, at Rumford Community Home.

She was born in Jay, Feb. 5, 1920, a daughter of Sewall and Anna (Small) Mayhew. She was a graduate of Wilton Academy.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, writing, cooking and spending time with her family. She also loved embroidering.

Surviving are her son, Ronald E. Whitman and wife, Jackelyn, of Dixfield; two grandchildren, Dean Whitman and Walt Whitman; and five great-grandchildren, Christina, Christian, Chantel, Nichole and Gabriel.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Glendon A. Whitman in 1986; a brother, William Mayhew; and a sister, Minnie Chase.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rumford Community Home for all of the wonderful care given to Pearl.
