LIVERMORE FALLS — Town Manager Jim Chaousis plans to discuss a potential sewer rate increase with selectmen in their capacity as Sewer Department trustees Tuesday.

The rate was increased twice in 2009 and went into effect in January.

The Board of Selectmen will discuss the need to increase the sewer rates to continue meeting expenses.

Chaousis said he and Sewer Department representatives are still working on rates but believes a combination of unit rate and consumption rate increases will be proposed.

He plans to have a calculator available to discuss different rate scenarios.

If an increase is approved, Chaousis said, the new rate would go into effect for the next billing cycle.

The regular selectmen’s meeting will follow a public hearing on a proposed $2.1 million municipal budget at 6:30 p.m. April 20 downstairs in the auditorium of the Treat Memorial Library.
