DURHAM — A wandering dog was blamed for a single-vehicle rollover early Tuesday morning on Hallowell Road.

According to Androscoggin Sheriff Sgt. Jim Jacques, Brian Hussey, 28, of Durham, was driving in a westerly direction on Hallowell Road on his way to work when he swerved to avoid a white dog in the road.

The dog was unscathed, but Hussey lost control of his car, went off the right shoulder into a ditch and rolled over.

Hussey complained of neck pain and was taken to Mid-Coast Hospital in Brunswick by Durham Fire and Rescue.

Jacques estimated damage to Hussey’s 2004 station wagon at $3,000 in the 5:35 a.m. crash.
