AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Maine has received a $30 million federal stimulus grant to fund energy efficiency upgrades in the state.
Gov. John Baldacci said Wednesday that the money will establish a revolving loan fund to make buildings more energy efficient. Money will be accessible to residents in towns that meet certain clean energy guidelines set by the state. Baldacci says the grant will create jobs and reduce energy consumption.
Maine’s grant is part of $452 million in federal Recovery Act funding for retrofits.
