RANDOLPH, Maine (AP) — Police say a 19-year-old man is facing charges following an eight-hour standoff in Randolph.

Samuel Smith surrendered to police following the standoff Wednesday morning outside his apartment, where he had barricaded himself. A state police SWAT team was called in after a Kennebec County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a complaint of domestic violence at the residence.

After he surrendered, Smith was charged with domestic assault, criminal mischief and creating a police standoff. Sheriff Randall Liberty tells the Kennebec Journal in Augusta that police found a shotgun and 12 rounds of buckshot in Smith’s bedroom.
