LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will offer a free workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers where participants are encouraged to aid the healing process through writing.

The six-week workshop titled “Writing through the Darkness: A Journal Writing Series for Cancer Patients, Survivors and Caregivers” is scheduled from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, May 4 through June 8, at 12 High St., Conference Room D.

Participants are encouraged to strengthen their ability to heal by writing about their experience with cancer. A standing invitation to share with the group is offered and no previous writing experience is necessary.

The workshop will be presented by Tammie Fowles, Ph.D, LCSW, who brings more than 20 years experience in counseling and psychotherapy.

Participation is limited to nine and early registration is encouraged.
