National Peace Corps Association recently sent out a press release praising the Maine congressional delegation for supporting Senate and House letters calling for more Peace Corps funding for FY 2011.
“Maine is the first state ever where all their legislators signed ‘Dear Colleague’ letters on behalf of the Peace Corps,” said Kevin Quigley, president of the NPCA.
Approximately 75 Maine citizens are currently serving in the Peace Corps and more than 1,700 Mainers have served as Peace Corps volunteers since 1961, according to the release.
