KENTS HILL — Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Greg Brown will perform in concert at Kents Hill School on May 8, as the inaugural performance in the Aleigh Mills Concert Series.

Brown’s songs have been performed by Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana, Michael Johnson, Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter. He has recorded more than a dozen albums on the Red House Records label, including the 1996 “Further In,” which earned four stars from Rolling Stone magazine.

His most recent albums are “The Evening Call,” which received rave reviews in numerous music publications, and “Dream City: Essential Recordings Vol. 2, 1997-2006,” a compilation of fan favorites that also includes previously unreleased material.

The Aleigh Mills Concert Series supports the Aleigh Mills Scholarship Fund, the vision of Tim and Donna Mills, in memory of their daughter Aleigh, who was murdered in her Wayne home in 2007.

A member of the class of 2006 at Kents Hill School, Aleigh was known for her outgoing nature, concern for others and generous spirit.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. at Vivian Russell Theater in the recently completed Performing Arts Center at Newton Hall on the school campus.

General admission tickets are $35, with a number of VIP seats available for $50. Tickets are available through the Kents Hill School Development office, online at www.kentshill.org/concertseries or by calling 685-4914.

The concert series was developed by Jamie Issaacson, co-founder of the North Atlantic Blues Festival.
