DEAR SUN SPOTS: I did get your message on our answering machine, but we were away on vacation. Yes, I still do transfers of music from LP to CD. Also, I can do transfers of audio cassette tapes and of reel-to-reel tapes to CD. I’d be glad to help someone with their projects. Thanks for asking. — Richard Rau, 225-5222

NOTE TO READERS: Sun Spots often gets letters from readers who have ordered something through the mail and not received it. Most recently, Carmen from Auburn spent six months making phone calls and sending faxes to get her Cottages and Bungalows magazine. Fortunately, she had the information she needed to rectify the situation. To protect yourself, it is a good idea to make a photocopy of the offer, your check and the mailing address anytime you send for something.

The same thing applies to rebate offers. Make a photocopy of your proof of purchase, the rebate form and your envelope. That way, if you don’t get what you’re due, you have the necessary information to start your claim. If you don’t have a copy feature on your home printer, many libraries allow patrons to make photocopies for a small fee.

This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name (we won’t use it if you ask us not to). Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be e-mailed to sunspots@sunjournal.com.
