NORWAY — The Norway Parks and Recreation Department will hold the annual Community Spring Clean Up from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 1, at Lake Pennesseewassee Park. The work will consist of raking the public boat landing area, trails, volleyball court and beaches, sweeping the basketball court and painting.

The New Balance Foundation has donated 28 20-inch bicycles, helmets and bicycle locks to the Recreation Department for use in a drawing. Children will be able to earn tickets to enter into the drawing by participating in the clean up and physical activities scheduled during the day.

The clean up will start at 8 a.m. Children, who must be accompanied by an adult, can earn a ticket into the drawing for each hour they help with the clean up. At 10:45 a.m, Healthy Oxford Hills will partner with the Recreation Department to set up physical activity stations throughout the park. Activities will include hopscotch, hula hoops, jump ropes, beach ball volleyball, an obstacle course and a scavenger hunt.

Children must complete at least three stations to earn another ticket into the drawing and can earn up to four tickets for the drawing. The bicycles will be on display at the event and the drawing will be held around 11:45 a.m. Children must be present to win.

Lake Pennesseewassee Park is open to the public regardless of their residence. Those assisting are asked to bring gloves and rakes and check in at the table when arriving.
