PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A firearms expert says a woman charged in a baseball bat attack on her husband was shot at close range, even though she told police she never saw the person who shot her.
Linda Dolloff is charged with attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault in the 2009 attack on Jeffrey Dolloff. Dolloff has told authorities an intruder beat her husband and then shot her when she walked into the room. Prosecutors say she beat her husband and then shot herself to cover up the attack.
The Portland Press Herald reports that Maine State Police lab scientist Kimberly Stevens testified Tuesday that Dolloff was shot from no more than 18 inches away, which could undercut Dolloff’s claim about not seeing her alleged attacker.
