LEWISTON — Lewiston Adult Education will offer two programs to assist adults interested in transitioning into a college degree program: the College Transition Program and the Career Transitions: Health Care Edition program.

The courses are available at no cost to participants, and will help those who have been away from school refresh academic, computer and study skills before enrolling in college courses.

Participants will also be eligible for one college credit at Central Maine Community College in recognition of their successful completion of either of these programs.

In the College Transition Program, participants will spend time reviewing the reading, writing, math and computer skills that will be necessary to do college-level work. Students will also practice study skills that will have been proven successful for many adults as they transition to doing academic work in college courses.

The program will also provide support as participants consider which kinds of college programs and careers they would like to pursue. Adults in the College Transition Program will use skill and interest inventories to learn about which kinds of careers they might find most rewarding.

Participants will complete college and financial aid applications, and learn about scholarships available to adults entering college.
