Health screenings

LEWISTON — Take Charge! health screenings will be available for $25 though the month of May.

The screening takes approximately 15 minutes and includes a lipid profile, measuring total cholesterol and good cholesterol; height and weight measurements; blood pressure; physical activity level; and body mass index. A health professional will review and discuss results with patients. 

All results are strictly confidential and with permission, a copy of the report can be provided to a primary care physician. To make an appointment, call 777-8898.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on May 10 were as follows: first, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; second, Lue Bilodeau and Luke Merry; third, Eileen Potvin and Della Starbird; first in B, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Dinner and music

LEWISTON — The Lots to Gardens’ Summer Youth Gardeners and Youth Interns will have a dinner on Friday, June 11. The groups are raising money to attend the 12th annual Rooted in Community Conference this summer in Durham, N.C.

The Youth Interns will host a dinner featuring locally grown ingredients. Guests will also enjoy live music provided by budding local musician Tom Smith. Admission is $10 each person. Discounts can be offered.

The dinner will take place at St. Mary’s Nutrition Center of Maine at the corner of Bates and Walnut streets. The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. To reserve a seat or for more information, call Ari Rosenberg at 513-3844.

Spaghetti supper

MECHANIC FALLS — A public spaghetti supper will be served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 16, at the Advent Christian Campground on Route 121. Proceeds will benefit the campground’s Kitchen Fund to build an addition.

The menu is spaghetti, meatballs, sauce, tossed green salad, garlic bread, homemade desserts and beverages. Suggested donation is $6 for those 12 years and older; $3 for ages 3 to 11.
