LEWISTON — Boy Scout Troop 007 assisted Kevin McArthur, a Life Scout, with the final stage of his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project on April 10. His project was to create a meditation area and memorial garden on the grounds of the Vineyard Church on Foss Road. The church is the troop sponsor for Troop 007.

The project totaled more than 130 volunteer hours and spanned over three different work days. The scouts created forms for concrete bench legs, mixed and poured the concrete, then added bench tops. They also created a garden for the benches to be placed.

The Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project is an opportunity for a scout in the Boy Scouts of America to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of his community.

It is the culmination of the Eagle Scout candidate’s leadership training, and it requires a significant effort on his part.

When asked why he chose this particular project, McArthur said, “I wanted to do something for the Vineyard as a thank you for all they do for my troop.”
