RUMFORD — With eight candidates for the selectboard and a contested race for town clerk–treasurer on the June 8 town election ballot, a Candidates’ Night will be held Thursday, May 27, at 7 p.m. in the town hall auditorium, according to a release issued by the town office Wednesday.

Rumford attorney Jennifer Kreckel will moderate the event, which will feature a series of prepared questions for the candidates to answer. For fairness, all candidates will be presented with the same set of questions, the release stated.

Running for a one-year term on the selectboard are incumbent Jeffrey Sterling and challenger Paul Lowell. Running for a three-year term on the board are incumbents Bradford Adley and Frank Diconzo, and challengers Jeremy Volkernick, Frank Anastasio, Jolene Lovejoy and Eric Giroux.

Running for town clerk–treasurer to replace current incumbent M. Jane Giasson, who is retiring, are Beth Bellegarde and Cynthia Kelley.

The event is open to the public. Any questions about the Candidates’ Night may be addressed to the town manager’s office by calling 364-4576.
