Board: Sabattus Selectmen

Met: Tuesday night

New business board

Issue: Town Manager Rick Bates proposed forming a new Technical Review Committee with members like himself, the police chief and code enforcement officer, to review new business applications and ensure everything’s in order before it gets to the Planning Board.

The scoop: Right now the Planning Board only meets once a month. Not having the right materials at the right time can mean a month or more delay.

Up next: Selectmen approved the idea of the new committee. Bates will come back with more proposed details, like when and how often it would meet.

Police news

Issue: Fales also introduced Andrew Levesque as the town’s newest reserve officer.

Mark your calendars

Issue: Residents of Sabattus, Wales and Litchfield have a town meeting-style meeting to set the Regional School Unit 4 budget at 6:30 p.m. on June 2 at Oak Hill High School. Sabattus residents will vote on that budget June 8 during the statewide election. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the town office.

Issue: On June 30, the town office will be partly closed in order to finish paperwork on the end of the fiscal year. Staffers won’t be working the window, but the code enforcement officer and town manager will both be available.
