Mary Wierzbicki cuts carrots and onions while Bill Barr relaxes on a sunny afternoon in Lisbon on Sunday. Wierzbicki and her husband John cooked a Civil War era supper for about 30 members of the Lisbon Historical Society. The Wierzbickis are members of the 20th Maine, a Civil War reenactment group based in Bangor, and did a presentation one year ago on what people wore during the war. There were many questions about food, said the Wierzbickis. The couple then decided to cook a feast of pot roast, chicken, potatoes, corn bread and three apple pies, all in Dutch ovens in their front yard. The fire pits were lit about 9 a.m. and dinner was expected to be served around 5 p.m. “It gives you a whole new appreciation for what our forefathers did,” said John Wierzbicki.
