FREEPORT — Dancers with the United States Nippon (USN) International Friendship Group delegation will perform traditional Japanese folk dances and music Wednesday, June 2, at L.L. Bean’s Discovery Park.

Enburi, the colorful performance of traditional Japanese folk dances and music from Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, is an expression of prayer. They also symbolize farm work to signal the arrival of spring.

The USN International Friendship Group delegation will visit Maine May 29 to June 4. The USN was established in 1998 to acquaint U.S. citizens with Japanese culture and festival traditions and to promote friendship between the United States and Japan. The Maine-Aomori Sister State Advisory Council is hosting the delegation.

The dance performance will run from 4 to 5 p.m. in the park adjacent to the L.L.Bean store. Admission is free.
