Work on the bridge and two Route 2 reconstruction projects in Gilead that total $9.7 million is expected to be completed in July and November.
Traffic was reduced to one lane on Route 2 in Gilead on Tuesday as a crew from K and K Excavation of Turner continued work on the road, one of three Maine Department of Transportation projects totaling $12.2 million. Two of the projects — $4.8 million and $4.9 million, respectively — involve highway reconstruction and substantial blasting to remove mountains of ledge. The third is a $2.5 million project to replace the Wild River Bridge. The work is expected to be completed in July and November.
