FARMINGTON — A fundraiser could mean time spent in a portable jail Wednesday for area employees.

The Farmington Police Department is taking requests for subjects to arrest and place in the jail set up in Abbott Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday,  department secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.

People will be arrested at their place of work with a donation arranged by their co-workers. The reason for the arrest is decided by their co-workers, she said. They will be brought to the jail and given one hour to make phone calls to “raise bail” money or remain in jail for the hour, she said.

The event supports the American Cancer Society through the department’s Team Blue Heat and its participation in this year’s Relay for Life planned for June 4 and 5 at Mt. Blue High School.

For more information or to request an arrest, call the Farmington Police Department at 778-6311.
