DEAR SUN SPOTS: For Barbara in Rumford (May 3), from your description, your rug may be a hooked rug. If it is, I have had hooked rugs repaired by Jessie Trubayne, 760 Oak St., Westwood, MA 02090, 781-769-4798. I was very satisfied with her work. — Etta Meade, Springfield, Mass.

The clerks at the store are very helpful, and I had the shoes within three days. The shipping charge was $7. — No Name via e-mail

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to thank the readers who responded to the request for donations of yarn for my elderly friend. With your help she has a great amount of yarn to keep her busy for a while. Also thank you to the gentlemen in Portland who sent a generous donation to help her with purchasing yarn. With your help, she will be able to enjoy making beautiful blankets to donate to children and families in churches and hospitals in the community. Again, thank you, Sun Spots, for a great way to communicate with the community. — Carlene via e-mail
