FARMINGTON — While several musicians intend to continue providing free concerts from the gazebo in Meetinghouse Park, selectmen decided Tuesday to meet new performers before granting approval of a concert request.

A list of performers including the traditional Old Crow Band concerts will appear from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, and a variety of groups have already reserved Music on Main Tuesday concerts from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the park.

Livermore Falls performer Phil Poirier sought to play acoustic guitar and sing in a series of concerts this summer at noon and applied to the board in writing but didn’t appear at the meeting.

It would be nice to know who they are, Selectman Jon Bubier said.

Other selectmen agreed that an initial meeting would provide that opportunity.

“It’s a chance to meet them and say this is what we expect to see or not see,” Selectman Ryan Morgan said.

The board unanimously declined the request until there is an opportunity to meet the applicant in person.

They then went on to approve mandatory attendance for new performers at the board’s meeting when their reservation request for performance dates in the park is being considered.

Performers scheduled for Music on Main on Tuesdays starting June 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. includes The Crosbys; Arizona Rose and the Rich Ric Band, Seminole Wind and Off the Hill. Tuesday concerts provided by these performers continue through to Aug. 31.
