Women’s ride

FREEPORT — The Bicycle Coalition of Maine’s Women’s Ride will be held on Sunday, June 13. Participants can choose from four distance options: five, 15, 25 or 50 miles. The rides will start at 9 a.m. at L.L. Bean’s Casco Conference Center on Casco Street. There will be refreshments, yoga and massage at the ride’s conclusion.

Registration is $25 for coalition members and $35 for nonmembers, with a $10 discount for girls 12- to 17-years-old and those over 65. Girls 11 and under ride free. All proceeds benefit the coalition’s work to make Maine a better place to bicycle.

Summer school

TURNER — Most of the SAD 52 academic summer school classes start the week of July 6. Science offerings will include biology, chemistry and physical sciences. In the math field, applied math, algebra I and II, plus geometry will be featured.

For English students, creative writing and English literature will be offered. Those needing history classes may choose from modern history and U.S. government.

Learn about CityLink

AUBURN — A “CityLink 101” program will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.

Marsha Bennett, transit coordinator for the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments, will provide an informal refresher course about the services L-A’s CityLink bus system provides and how to use them. The brown bag lunch program is free and will take place in the Androscoggin Community Room.

People may bring their lunch or order out at The Library Cafe; drinks and dessert will be provided. For more information, call the library Reference Desk at 333-6640, ext. 4.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on May 25 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Flight A winners were: first, David Lock and Mike Quinn; second, Fred Letourneau and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Jan Arey and Linda Leotsakos; fourth, Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton. Winners in flight B were Kathleen Burden and Mary Anne Trafton. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 1.

The club also met on May 26 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners were: first, David Lock and Pat Quinn; second, Fred Letourneau and Jeanine Kivus; tied at third, Phil and Jean Bird with Anna Vitiello and Lucille Theriault.
