AUBURN — A man and a woman, both indicted on drug charges in connection with methamphetamine lab raids by police, pleaded not guilty Thursday to felonies.

State drugs agents raided a Lewiston home in February seeking evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing. James Ludlow, 35, was charged with two drug felonies in connection with that raid. He pleaded not guilty in Androscoggin County Superior Court last month.

Less than two months after that raid, Eric Merrill, 30, of 1510 Minot Ave. was arrested and charged with trafficking, after a raid on his house by drug agents.

Police said in court papers that during their investigation into Ludlow’s case they learned Merrill had been buying pseudoephedrine in similar quantities as Ludow from local stores. His girlfriend, Pamela Connor, 26, was Merrill’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of Merrill’s children. She also was buying from local stores pseudoephedrine, the over-the-counter drug used in making methamphetamine.

Merrill pleaded not guilty Thursday to trafficking. He remained free on $1,000 cash bail. Connor also pleaded not guilty to trafficking on Thursday. She remained free on $500 cash bail. She was barred from using or having illegal drugs, including pseudoephedrine.
