GRAY — In one hour Thursday, roughly 40 voters approved RSU 15’s $19.69 million budget for 2010-11.
Superintendent Victoria Burns said Friday by telephone that a validation vote on the budget is set for June 8 at the polls in Gray and New Gloucester.
The budget is $649,909 less than this year. Federal stimulus money will be used whenever possible to offset anticipated revenue losses in 2010-11. The state subsidy to the district is $1.1 million less than in 2009-10.
Because of the revenue loss, a elementary principal’s post will be eliminated and administrators will take a salary freeze. The director of finance and the director of curriculum and learning will take furlough days.
