MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. —  Roger Maurice Hebert Sr., 61, passed away Thursday, May 27, at his home.

He was born Dec. 14, 1948, in Auburn, Maine, a son of the late Wally J. Hebert and Rose Alma Laprise Hebert.

Mr. Hebert was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who proudly served his country for two tours of service in the Vietnam War. He lived most of his life in Maine and relocated to the Myrtle Beach area in 1997. Mr. Hebert was a lifetime member of the VFW Post No. 10420 and American Legion Post No. 178, both in Murrells Inlet. He was also a member of the DAV, Chapter 30, in Myrtle Beach.

He was an avid golfer, fly fisherman, woodworker, and most of all loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Hebert is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Beverly A. Hebert; two sons, Roger M. Hebert Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Loris, and Joseph Ablondi of Myrtle Beach; four daughters, Kim McPhail and her fiancé, James, of Loris, Kellie Knaffle and her husband, Mike, of Myrtle Beach, Caroline Dutton and her husband, Greg, of Whitinsville, Mass. and Tracy Lewis and her husband, Charles, of Conway; three brothers, Raymond Hebert and his wife, Marie, of Maine, Ronald Hebert and his wife, Dottie, of Massachusetts, and Richard Hebert and his wife, Jannette, of Conway; his sister-in-law, Patricia Hebert, of Connecticut; eight grandchildren, Heather, Sage, Francesca, Ashley, C.J., Katlyn, Sarah, and Samantha; one great-granddaughter, Olivia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hebert.
