100 years ago, 1910

Pleasure resorts on the shores of Sabattus Lake were crowded Monday with people from Lewiston and Auburn and surrounding towns, and although no formal plans were made for the observance of Memorial Day, everyone made the best of the opportunity to enjoy himself. Most of the cottages at the lake were open and the motor boats, of which there are now a large number, were out in full force. With the recent additions, the local fleet will rank favorably in size with that on many of the larger lakes.

50 years ago, 1960

Auburn police yesterday received a report of another obscene telephone call being made to an Auburn woman. The complainant, unidentified by police, reported she received the call from a man yesterday morning. There have been other similar complaints to police recently.

25 years ago, 1985

Jeffrey K. Jordan will move from Lewiston’s Community Development Office to the City Administrator’s Office after being named the new administrative assistant to Lewiston Mayor Alfred A. Plourde and City Administrator Lucien G. Gosselin.

Jordan, 26, was selected from among 18 applicants to fill the position formerly held by Michael C. Wing. Wing resigned to take a job with the Maine Municipal Association.
