LITCHFIELD — Since 1991, the Blistered Fingers Bluegrass Festival has put banjo players, fiddlers and other musicians front and center over two weekends in June and August.
That tradition will continue June 17, 18, 19 and 20 — but not at the usual site in Sidney.
This year, the festival will move to the Litchfield Fairgrounds at 30 Plains Road, about 20 minutes south of the former location. The new festival home has a bigger and better stage, 18 women’s and 18 men’s indoor bathroom facilities, four free hot showers and numerous water and electrical hookups.
“When we made the decision of moving from Sidney, it was truly a difficult one. It’s been our home for 18 years. We have a lot of great memories there. It was important to us to find a new location that would still have that ‘welcome home’ feeling, which we had in Sidney and now in Litchfield. We are excited about our new grounds,” said Sandy Cormier who with her husband, Greg Cormier, is festival promoter.
