Lewiston-Auburn was abuzz with 1,000 visitors on May 21-22. The Maine Democratic Party held its convention at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee and attendees came from as far away as Fort Kent and Kittery. A welcome reception was held at Museum L-A; candidates and other groups hosted get-togethers at area restaurants; and more than 300 hotel rooms were reserved.
The event was a huge success for L-A as it was given the opportunity to showcase its rich history, current vitality and future potential.
The event would not have taken place here if not for the diligence of Elaine Makas. She promoted Lewiston-Auburn to the state party, citing its central location and ample accommodations. She is proud of its heritage and traditions but, most importantly, its people.
Elaine Makas is committed to advancing our community and I hope Lewiston residents support her for county commissioner on June 8.
