NORWAY — Selectman Bruce Cook has announced he is seeking re-election.
He said the past three years on the board “have been challenging as we have attempted to meet the many needs of the town and its residents with fewer financial resources.
“Municipalities are at the end of the line when it comes to financial resources,” Cook said. “The state takes or keeps what it needs, followed by the county and the school district. Norway, and other small towns like Norway, has to try to exist on what is left and still hold the line of real estate taxes, our only real source of revenue. I believe the next several years will be equally challenging as there continues to be very little light at the end of the economic tunnel,” he said.
“I feel my many years in management-level positions in the business world, my education, master of business administration, and my years of experience serving on numerous town and area committees and, for the past three years, on the Norway select board make me well prepared for the challenges facing Norway in the years ahead,” he said.
