I have had the privilege of serving with Elaine Makas for four years in the Maine Legislature. Her service on the Education Committee benefited many students in Maine and Lewiston.

There have been letters to the editor about her dedication and I share my story.

Days before the January term, Makas broke her ankle and injured her foot on the other leg in an airline accident. First in a wheelchair, then with two canes, a smile on her face, she never missed a day of work in Augusta. I know that, as I drove her there most of that term. We received remarks about sliding on the ice and snow.

Her dedication is still clear to me as she serves as a county commissioner.

I hope others join me to re-elect Elaine Makas.
