AUBURN — Normand A. Elie, 90, of 26 Bolster St., Auburn, died June 2 at Androscoggin Hospice House with his family by his side.
He was born in Lewiston on July 5, 1919, the son of Charles and Marieanne (McKeone) Elie. He attended schools in Lewiston and later served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic during World War II.
On June 21, 1941, he married Irene Cloutier and she died on June 23, 2008.
He worked for many years at F.X. Marcotte, as a self-employed bread deliverer, as a self-employed salesman for Paymaster Inc., which specialized in check writing machines, and as a manager for Fuller Brush Co.
Norm was a parishioner of Holy Family Church where he belonged to the St. Joseph Association and also served on the board at Holy Family Credit Union. He was also a member of Le Cercle Passetemps, Exchange Club, American Legion and the Holy Family Bowling League.
He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports.
He is survived by his children, Vivian Richard and her husband, Paul, Gerald Elie and his wife, Jacqueline, Janice Elie and Klaire Magaera; grandchildren Dina Jackson and her husband, Larry, Danielle Richard, Jennifer Kelly and her husband, Brian, and Matthew, Sarah, and Hope Elie; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
The family wishes to extend our appreciation to the staff at Bolster Heights, the CNAs who doted on our father, his special roommate Ken, and all the other friends he made while he was there.
Our heartfelt gratitude is also extended to the Hospice House staff and Dr. Austin for their compassionate care and attention to our dad’s comfort during his stay with them.
The dedication of Bolster Heights and Hospice House staff is unsurpassed.
