I am voting for Elaine Makas for Androscoggin county commissioner because she has, once again, proven herself a strong advocate for the citizens of Lewiston and the county at large. She not only stands firm when taking on difficult issues, but also understands the power and importance of diplomacy to achieve solutions.
She also brings six years’ experience of service in the Maine Legislature, where she championed issues such as protecting and raising the clean water standards of the Androscoggin River, honoring and supporting veterans and active service members, and fought to keep Casella from dumping out-of-state trash in the Lewiston landfill.
She is already familiar with the issues of the county and has shown she can work effectively with the other commissioners to serve the people of Androscoggin County.
I hope others join me in support of Commissioner Elaine Makas on June 8.
Tom Reynolds, Lewiston
