WATERFORD — A woman and her boyfriend were arrested Wednesday evening on charges that they used a chain saw and sledgehammer to threaten her ex-husband and damage his home.

Doreen M. Kimball, 48, and Greg Edward Swynar, 26, both of Smith Street in Harrison, were charged with aggravated criminal mischief. Swynar was also charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon. Kimball was charged with domestic violence criminal threatening.

Lt. Walter Grzyb of the Maine State Police said Trooper Adam Fillebrown responded to the Bear Pond Road residence of Kimball’s ex-husband, Brad Pike, at about 7:30 p.m.

Grzyb said the sledgehammer and chain saw were used to damage and destroy walls, stair railings, furniture and other property.

“There’s no indication that they broke their way in,” Grzyb said. “It looks like they just showed up and went in. I don’t know if they were expected, but I don’t think they kicked in doors or anything like that.”

Pike and his son were home at the time of the incident, but were not injured.

Grzyb said the destruction likely stemmed from Kimball’s past marriage and divorce. He did not know the total value of the damaged and destroyed property, but an aggravated criminal mischief charge alleges more than $2,000 in damage.

Kimball and Swynar had left the residence by the time police arrived. They were arrested in Harrison.

According to booking information at the jail, Swynar began work as a physical therapist at Stephens Memorial Hospital a week ago. Kimball is disabled. She had made bail by Thursday afternoon; Swynar remained incarcerated.
