LEWISTON — Clemence Q. Gervais, 83, a resident of Abbot, died Thursday evening, June 3, at d’Youville Pavilion, following a long illness.

She was born in St. Martin, P.Q. , Canada on April 19, 1927, the daughter of Edouard and Emerilda (Lachance) Quirion and had been a resident of this community for most of her life.

She was employed in the local textile industry for many years, until her retirement. Clemence enjoyed playing beano and loved her dog, “Benji.” She also enjoyed singing and listening to country and French music.

She is survived by her husband, Normand Gervais, Sr., whom she married on May 22, 1943, of Abbot; two sons, Normand Gervais, Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Ledyard, Conn. and Clement Gervais, Sr. and his wife, Barbara, of Lewiston; nine grandchildren, Clement Gervais, Jr., Tina Pilot and her husband, Mark, Randy Gervais, Amber Berube and her husband, Thomas, Brandon Gervais, Susan Martin, Danielle Gervais, Joseph Gervais and Andrew Gervais; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
