Jackie Knight and Jim Collins have had their names smeared all over the town of Livermore Falls. Those pink slips are part of a negative campaign against us.
We, in our capacity as members of the Livermore Falls Board of Selectmen and Assessors, have always voted for items that benefit the town. That is what we are expected to do as elected representatives of the community.
Some members of a special interest group want to: dismantle the Livermore Falls Police Department (Article 40 on the town ballot); lay off Highway Department workers, which would reduce plowing and road repairs; and expect the Fire Department to fight fires with outdated safety equipment and gear.
In our opinion, those proposals were not in the best interest of the town and we would not support those extreme actions.
For our stand against those devastating plans, we get our names sullied around the town.
James Collins, selectman
Jackie Knight, selectman
